In terms of healthcare, the Philippines grapples with an underfunded and geographically limited healthcare system. Many individuals in impoverished or remote areas lack access to essential healthcare services, contributing to notable health disparities. The nation also contends with high rates of communicable diseases, including tuberculosis, dengue fever, and malaria.
Barriers to health
The healthcare system in the Philippines faces challenges of underfunding and limited reach, particularly affecting those in impoverished or remote areas. High rates of communicable diseases, such as tuberculosis, dengue fever, and malaria, further underscore the need for comprehensive healthcare solutions to ensure universal access.
Climate Vulnerability
The Philippines is among the most vulnerable countries to climate change, experiencing the devastating impact of extreme weather events like typhoons and flooding. Notably, typhoon Haiyan in 2013 and subsequent natural disasters have exacerbated the country's infrastructure, economic, and health challenges.
