Cambodia

Lunas Global Health Network is dedicated to identifying and improving global health inequities through our research, advocacy, and partnerships. Our work focuses on several countries in Southeast Asia including Cambodia, a country of 16 million people on the Gulf of Thailand and that shares borders with Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam.

Barriers to Health

Cambodia faces numerous barriers to realizing the right to health for its people. Many people in the country lack access to quality healthcare, and widespread poverty, inequality, and limited access to education contribute to poor health outcomes. As a result, transmittable and preventable diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis run rampant.

At Lunas Global Health Network, we are committed to improving the right to health for youth in Cambodia. We believe that investing in education for young people is critical to breaking the cycle of poverty and improving health outcomes for future generations.

Climate Change

Cambodia has been identified as one of the most vulnerable in the world to the impacts of climate change. Cambodia has many low-lying coastal areas that are at extreme risk of flooding and rising sea levels. Extreme weather events such as droughts and floods can also damage crops and threaten people's food security. Furthermore, deforestation and other forms of environmental degradation exacerbate the effects of climate change by degrading natural barriers against floods, winds, and more.

Tonlé Sap

The Tonle Sap Lake is a vital natural resource for Cambodia. It is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and provides food and income for local communities. However, the lake faces numerous environmental risks, including overfishing, pollution, and deforestation. At Lunas Global Health Network, we are committed to supporting efforts to protect the Tonle Sap Lake and promote sustainable development in Cambodia.

We believe that everyone has the right to access quality healthcare and live in a healthy environment. Join us in our mission to improve global health outcomes by supporting our work in Cambodia and beyond. Together, we can build a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
